September 13th

Meeting!!!

Dr. Joe Barnhart will be speaking to our group for September’s meeting. We are very luck to have Dr. Barhart who is well know among humanist circles.

Dr. Barhart holds the bachelor’s degree from Carson-Newman, the master’s from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the doctorate from Boston University. He is a prolific writer and has entitled his talk, "Philo, the Logos, and Sophia." You are guaranteed to enjoy this!

Last Month’s Meeting

The August meeting featured a presentation by Kelle Muller. The title of the talk was "SMART Recovery: A Non-Theistic Alternative to AA."

We learned more about a valuable program that is an alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous. We also learned of the frustrations that can come through our legal system when attempting to offer this non-theistic approach. Many thanks to Kellee for talking to us and volunteering her time to educate others!!

Adopt a Street!!

(please read this!!)

Well, we art that time where we must mage good on our promise to clean our portion of Granbury Road. September 16th has been designated as our first effort to clean up our adopted street of.

Let’s meet at the intersection of intersection of South University and Granbury Road. There is an Professional Osteopathic building where we can park.

To avoid the heat it has been suggested that we meet at 7:00 a.m. It is estimated that we will clean debris until 10:00 a.m. and then adjourn for nourishment at Denny’s on Hulen Street.

We hope that you will join the officers is cleaning the street marked with "Cowtown Humanist" signs. The more folks we have present the quicker the task can be completed. Please contact any of the officers with questions.

For the ½ hour TV program we would need to:

  1. Contact our local cable

provider and ask for the person in charge of scheduling the public access TV slots; 2) They will send you a packet explaining what you need to do and what type of tape format they want; 3) you will need to sign some paper work locally as the area’s local sponsor which entails getting new tapes to the studio and returning tapes that have been shown.

If you are interested in taking on this task please contact one of the Humanists of Ft. Worth officers at the next meeting.
